How it works
Frequently asked questions
Are my files safe? +
Yes. ConvertLab processes your files on secure servers located in France. They are never shared with third parties, never viewed, never exploited or sold, and are deleted automatically as soon as the conversion ends.
Where are my files processed? What happens to them? +
Your file is sent over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) to our servers in France, converted in a temporary workspace, and that workspace is then destroyed entirely. No copy is kept. Two points of transparency: your IP address is used by the server to count the free conversions you have made today (that is what makes the quotas work) and is kept only briefly; ads are served through Google, with no access to your files. The details are set out in the privacy policy.
Is it really free? +
Yes. The free tier allows 10 files a day, including 1 video, on a subset of formats — with no sign-up. NoLimit access at €2 for 31 days (one-off payment, no subscription) lifts those quotas and unlocks every format.
Do I need an account? +
No. You can convert your files right away, without creating an account or leaving an email address. Even NoLimit works without an account, through an anonymous token stored in your browser.
Which formats are supported? +
Over 80 formats: video, audio, documents, images, archives and data. The full list is available on the Tools page.
Is there a file size limit? +
Yes: 100 MB per file. Since the processing happens on our servers, that limit no longer depends on how powerful your device is — a modest phone converts just as well as a recent computer. With NoLimit, up to 1 GB per file (250 MB for video).
Why is converting a large video slow? +
A large video first has to be uploaded to our servers, then transcoded. The time depends mostly on your upload speed and on how long the video is. At busy times, your conversion may also wait a moment for a slot to free up on the server.
